본 연구 목적은 세속화된 이슬람 문화권 한류 팬들의 문화적인 배경을 살펴보고 그들을 이해하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 문화기술지 연구 방법을 활용하여 아제르바이잔 국적의 한류 팬 연구 참여자 15명을 대상으로 그들의 개인적인 한류 팬 경험을 연구하였다. 그 결과 아제르바이잔의 한류 팬들은 한국문화 향유를 위해 자발적인 문화 재생산 활동을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 참여자들은 종교적 영향에 따라서 세 그룹으로 나눴으며 유연한 무슬림이 속한 B그룹과 무슬림이 아닌 C그룹에 속한 참여자들은 한류를 통해 기존의 지배적인 남성중심성에 대한 반감을 해소하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 한류를 향유하면서 자국의 문화와 대치되는 상황에서는 A그룹은 보수적인 태도를 유지하는 반면 B그룹과 C그룹의 한국 문화를 더 동경하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 아제르바이잔의 한류 팬들은 온라인 매체를 통해 한국 문화를 공유하고 비판하고 자발적인 참여를 통해 오프라인 모임을 주도하는 등의 활동을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 아제르바이잔의 한류는 폐쇄적인 자국의 문화 정책과 이슬람 문화로 인해 한국 문화 향유에 제약이 있었다. 이에 한류가 현지의 문화와 융합되어 발전하기 위해서는 첫째, 우리가 그들의 삶을 이해하려는 노력이 시급하며 둘째, 한류 팬의 자생적인 힘을 길러 주어야 한다. 이들이 한국 문화를 향유하고 재생산하며 한류가 문화로서의 생명력을 잃어버리지 않도록 세속적 이슬람 문화권의 한류에 대한 연구와 지원이 지속되어야 한다. 본 연구는 아제르바이잔에서의 한류에 대한 연구를 진행하였으며, 아제르바이잔이라는 개별 국가에 대한 한류 연구를 첫 번째로 시도하였다는 점, 한류 열풍 시점 전에 현장 연구를 진행하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
The purpose of this study is to understand the cultural background of Korean Wave fans in the secularized Islamic culture. In this study, we tried to find out how the Korean Wave was generated and flow characteristics in the secularized Islamic culture area. To this end, we examined the personal experiences of Korean fans in the study of 15 participants of Azerbaijan nationality who are Korean fans. Participants in this study are Azerbaijan s Korean Wave fans who are doing voluntary cultural reproduction to enjoy Korean culture. Participants in this study were divided into three groups according to Groups with Muslims who are flexible in the Islamic law B and non-Muslim C groups, who belong to accidental Muslims, resolved their antipathy to the existing dominant male-centeredness through the Korean wave. In addition, while enjoying the Korean Wave and confronting its own culture, Group A maintains a conservative attitude while admiring Korean culture in Group B and Group C. In addition, Korean fans in Azerbaijan are participating in activities such as sharing and criticizing Korean culture through online sites and leading offline meetings through voluntary participation. However the Korean fans of Azerbaijan are likely to slow their progress with their closed cultural policies and Islamic culture. In order for the Korean Wave to develop in harmony with the local culture, firstly, we must urgently try to understand their lives, and second, we must cultivate the native power of Korean Wave fans. Therefore in terms of supplying Korean Wave, First, we need to make efforts to understand their lives, Second, we should help the Korean Wave fans in Azerbaijan enjoy the Korean Wave on their own. Research and support for the Korean Wave in secular Islamic cultures should be continued so that they enjoy and reproduce Korean culture and do not lose Korean life as a culture. This study is meaningful in that it was the first study of Korean Wave in an individual country called Azerbaijan and the field study was conducted at a time when Korean Wave was just being activated.
