The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the core competencies and achievement standards of the practical arts and career and vocational subjects in the 2015 revised special education basic curriculum. For this purpose, semantic network analysis was performed in four stages: data collection, morphological extraction and word cleansing, vocabulary and network analysis, and visualization. The achievement standards further analyzed the diversity and difficulty of the vocabulary. SPSS 25, R, UCINET 6, and Netdraw programs were used to analyze the core competencies and achievement standards. The results of the study were as follow: First of all, the core competencies of the practical arts and career and vocational subjects were emphasized as ‘career and vocational competency’ and ‘self-management competency’ as the grade level increased. Second, the achievement standards of the practical arts and career and vocational subjects did not take into account cross-curricular characteristics. And, vocabulary diversity and difficulty in achievement standards were considered within the curriculum but not between the subjects. Third, the achievement standards of the practical arts, career and vocational subjects were taken into account in the career development stages of career recognition, career exploration, and career preparation. Based on the results, the suggestions for future revisions of the special education basic curriculum were presented.
