This study is aimed to examine the effects of the marital relationship enhancement program of Senescence on marital intimacy and ego-integrity of the elderly. The 12 pairs of subjects were selected from the volunteers aged
over 65, who live in Jeonju and use the leisure facilities for the elderly, 6 pairs of whom were assigned to experimental group and the others were assigned to controlled group. The Marital Relationship enhancement program of Senescence was conducted through 11 sessions. The effects of the program were examined utilizing by the marital intimacy scale and the ego-integrity scale at pretest, posttest, and 9-week follow-up. The results of this experiment were as follows : subjects in experimental group who had participated in the program showed meaningful increase in the sense of marital intimacy and ego-integrity whereas those in controlled group did not show significant change. The increase in the sense of marital intimacy and ego-integrity maintained through the experiment until the last follow-up. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study, and the suggestions for further study are discussed.
