This study aimed to examine the direction of music education considering the changing art paradigm in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. To this end, the authors investigated the perceptions of art experts, specifically focusing on the field of art and cultural education. Data were collected through interviews with nine art professionals and analyzed using NVivo 12, a qualitative data analysis software. On the basis of the results, the paper explains the direction of music education from four aspects: “the educational value of new technology,” “educational subjects and contents,” “teaching method,” and “considerations for implementing education.” Music education in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution should entail critical reflections on not just human beings but all living creatures. In addition, future music education should embrace and incorporate educational methods such as making, discussing, and interacting to develop universal creativity, critical thinking, and convergence skills.
