사회와 학교의 교육과정이 계속 변화되었고, 학생들의 생각과 태도도 달라졌지만, 교육 공간은 예전의 모습을 유지해 온것이 현실이다. 현재 학교 공간의 문제는 1962년에 도입된 ‘학교시설 표준설계도’에 따라 천편일률적인 공간을 만들어낸곳에서 학생의 고유성과 존엄성을 보장하지 못하고 있는 것이다. 이 연구는 일반 고등학교에 재학 중인 1학년 학생들의 미술교과수업이자, 학교 공간 개선 사업의 일종이었던 공공미술프로젝트인 ‘하늘에서 우산이 쏟아진다면’ 활동에 관한 탐구하고있는데 학생들이 학교 공간의 변화에 참여해보는 과정에서 얻게 된 교육적 의미를 밝히고자 한다. 교육활동은 총 3차시로미술실에서 진행되었고, 일부 반에서만 4차시 수업이 진행되었다. 학교 공간을 사용하는 모든 사람들과 함께 프로젝트의주제를 정하고 난 뒤 수업이 본격적으로 진행되었다. 1차시에는 과거의 학교 공간과 오늘날의 학교 공간을 서로 비교해보고차이점과 보완점에 대해 살펴보았고, 2차시부터 본격적으로 우산을 이용해서 표현활동을 시작하였다. 학생들과 함께 진행한활동을 통해 얻어낸 연구결과는 첫째, 평가 중심, 능력 중심의 표현 활동을 벗어나 자유롭게 표현을 할 수 있는 장을 마련하였다. 둘째, 자발적으로 배려하고 친구들을 돕는 모습을 발견되었다. 셋째, 공공미술 프로젝트의 수업 내용과 결과물은 단순한 성적 산출물을 넘어서서 모든 사람들의 소통의 매개체가 되었다.
Although the education curriculum of society and the school has continuously changed, as well as the students thoughts and attitudes, the reality is that the educational space has maintained its former appearance. The problem with the current school space is that through the introduction of the “Standard Design Plan for School Facilities” in 1962. This study is research on learning in an art course for first year high school students who participated in an activity called, If Umbrellas Poured From the Sky , which was a public art project about school space improvement. The purpose of this research is to explore the meaning of education at the process by which students engage in changes in school space. The educational activities were conducted in the art room with a total of three classes, while some classes had a total of four classes. After setting the theme of the project with everyone who uses the school space, the class took place in earnest. In the first period, we compared the school space of the past and present by looking at the differences and similarities, and in the second period, we began to express ourselves using umbrellas. The results of the work done with the students are as follows. First, it provided an opportunity to freely express beyond the evaluation and ability-oriented expression activities. Second, I discovered that students voluntarily considered and helped their friends. Third, the contents and outcomes of the lessons become more than just grade outputs, and became a “medium” for everyone s communication.
