This study is to examine the educational changes in Japan following the Covid 19 incident and to draw implications for Korean society. Japanese society values tradition and accuracy rather than change and reform. Its driving force has been highly regarded worldwide for its economic power and authenticity of basic science in the modern and contemporary history of Japan.
On the other hand, behind Japan’s economic power, it has produced various social problems, such as a decrease in the production population due to Ultra-low birth and a feeling of helplessness among young people, which is similar to the social problems facing the current Korean society. Therefore, in this study, after analyzing the phenomenon of Online education in Japan, the concept of ‘the right to learn’ in a way that guarantees ‘academic ability’ within the space of a school is explored. It intends to reinterpret it in the meaning of ‘the right to learn’ that can be embraced. It is necessary to prepare for a new change in education by linking the local community education ability, which has been continuously practiced in Japanese society, with schools in a contact and uncontact system. This can be directly connected to education that can cultivate the power of life, the essence of Japanese education.
In conclusion, alternatives can be found in the physical environment reforms such as the smartization of the educational environment being promoted in Korean society, and in small classes and ‘localization’ centered on the local community, which has been steadily practiced in Japanese society.
