It is known that the care burden of parents caring for people with severe developmental disabilities with challenging behaviors is very high and stressful, but there is very little research on the care experiences of parents. The purpose of this study was to provide a deep understanding and insight into the experiences of parents who care for people with severe developmental disabilities with challenging behavior. To this end, a focus group interview was conducted with 17 parents. As a result of analyzing the collected data using qualitative research methods, parents were experiencing trauma accumulated by turning them into stained wounds while caring for their children. While living as a parent of a child with a developmental disability, I was driven into a dead end, lost my way of life, and experienced a tragedy like this one never had. In addition, children's problems were neglected and avoided in order to survive as a family of children with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior. Based on the results of these studies, it was suggested to establish a support system that can support the challenging behaviors of people with developmental disabilities and to provide professional support for parents' coping of challenging behaviors and emotional pain.
