본 논문에서는 미술교육의 ‘뉴노멀’은 무엇이며 이를 찾기 위해 해야 할 노력이 무엇인지 탐구해보고자 했다. 첫째, 미술교육의 지향, 즉, 미술교육을 통해 어떤 인간 성장을 추구하며 이를 위해 재-발견해야 할 중요한 개념은 무엇인가를 고찰하며미적 경험 개념을 재조명하였고, 두 번째, 이를 수업으로 실행할 수 있는 가능성 모색의 예로서 ‘비주얼 저널’을 중심으로한 수업의 구조와 학생들의 작업 사례를 제시하였다. 비주얼 저널과 이를 중심으로 구성된 수업을 통해 본 연구에서 확인할수 있었던 미적 경험의 속성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일시적이고 파편화될 수 있는 경험을 온전한 경험으로 완결되도록 한다. 둘째, 자신과 외부 환경과의 상호 관계를 회복하고 그 과정을 의식하게 한다. 즉, 자신을 온전한 경험을 하는 이로 자각하게한다. 셋째, 다음 경험을 위한 개방성을 갖게 하며 새로운 경험 지평으로의 순환을 가능하게 한다. 미술교육의 현장은 지속되는 온라인 비대면 교육 환경과 그 안에서도 계속적으로 일어날 변화로 인해 당장의 수업을 위한 빠른 결정을 필요로 할것이다. 그러나 동시에 그 결정이 미술교육의 새로운 현재를 형성할 기준이 될 수 있다는 사실을 간과할 수 없다. 미술교육의뉴노멀은 새로운 ‘방법’이나 ‘기술’과 같은 외적 조건의 변화가 아닌, 미술교육의 ‘본질’을 질문하고 새롭게 되찾는 과정을통해 합의되는 기준을 지칭하게 될 것이다
The subject of this study is the meaning of New Normal in art education and the way to find it. The first question is, what is the direction of art education? What kind of human growth is art education aimed at, and what important concepts should be rediscovered for this? As I considered this question, I reexamined the concept of aesthetic experience. The second question is, Can you find the possibility and method of doing this in class? It covered the structure of the class and cases of students, focusing on ‘Visual Journal.’ The following properties of aesthetic experience were found in this study, focusing on visual journals: First, make sure that the incomplete experience is complete with the whole experience is complete. Second, restore interrelationships with oneself and the external environment and become conscious of the process. Third, it does not stop at one satisfying experience, but gives openness for the next. The field of art education will require immediate and quick decision-making due to the continuing online educational environment and the constant changes in it. But the decision could serve as a criterion for shaping a new present in art education. The new normal of art education will refer to criteria agreed through the process of asking and regaining the ‘essence’ of art education, not to changes in external conditions such as new ‘methods’ or ‘technology’.
