The purpose of the present study is to ultimately help elementary school students form their identity by letting them draw their region while also allowing them to form a new perception of the region they live in. To this end, this paper used translation and the phases of translation — the key concepts of actor–network theory — as well as Deleuze’s theory of three syntheses. The study identified the educational activities of the students with a focus on the ‘Suyanggae’ archeological site in order to increase their perception of their region of residence, Danyang. The research results confirmed that students were changing into regional actors while going through the four phases of translation based on nonhuman components converging on ‘Suyanggae’ in the process of students forming new meanings while also increasing their perception of the region. During this process, the regional image of the students created a sense of place assemblage and built a new type of regional identity network with regard to Danyang. Consequently, by associating Suyanggae with each other, the students translated the components of Suyanggae and formed a sense of place assemblage and furthermore contemplated a network with regard to regional identity formation.
