인문학, 예술, 과학 그리고 기술은 인간의 삶과 인류 역사에 있어 필수 불가결한 관련성을 맺어왔다. 이를 모두 포괄하는 건축은 인류의 사회적, 경제적, 과학적, 기술적, 민속학적 산물로 이해할 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 건축이 가지는 중요한 측면들이 교육적으로 이행되어야 할 필요가 있으며 특히 학교미술교육에서 건축교육의 실행에 대한 견해는 무엇이고 교육에서 건축은 무엇이어야 하며 교육자로서 건축을 어떻게 바라봐야 하는가의 관점들이 논의의 쟁점으로서 선결되어야 할 필요 성에 주목하였다. 건축 전문가들과 정책 입안자들도 그동안 건축에 대한 교육과 건축을 통한 교육으로 이원화된 기존의 건축 교육을 ‘기초건축교육’으로 통합하여 모든 국민을 대상으로 하는 건축교육을 시행하고자 공교육에의 도입을 시도해왔다. 이에 본 연구는 학교미술교육에서 이루어지는 건축교육의 현황을 초·중등학교 미술 교과서 분석을 통해 알아보고 공교육에서 기초건축교육의 실행 이전에 건축교육의 실행에 따른 쟁점을 분석하고 개선 방향을 찾아보고자 하였다. 연구의 결과는 학교 미술교육에서 ‘건축’을 바라보는 관점이 보다 다각도로 고찰되어야 할 필요성과 미술과 교육과정 및 학교급별 교과서 내용 구성의 체계화를 위한 반성적 고찰을 제공한다. 연구의 성과는 미술과 교육과정 및 교과서를 포함하여 학교미술교육 내용 구성의 체계화를 위한 기초 연구로 활용 가능함은 물론, 나아가 인간 삶의 방식과 문화적 이해로서 건축의 교육적 가치가 무엇이어야 하는가에 대한 논의가 필요함을 제기하는데 그 의미를 지닌다.
Science, humanities, arts and engineering have been distinguished areas since modern eras, but these have been interlinked and are the indispensable areas in the human histories. Architecture as encompassing these areas, can be seen as the product of human influences such as social, economic, scientific, technical and folklore factors that represents the limitations, potential, demands, and purpose of our time. The purpose of this study is to provide a reflecting point on the view of architecture in the category of school art education and starting discussion on what the educational value of architecture should be in terms of human life and cultural understanding. This study first examines preceding studies regarding the institutionalization of basic architecture education presented by architectural experts and policy makers, and analyzes architecture related contents in elementary and secondary school art textbooks to discuss the education application of the field. The results of this study serve as a educational view that should be discussed before the policy presenting a ‘Basic Architecture Education’ for the public, as well as a first step for contents designing on school art curriculum during the settlement process,
