Objective : This study was studied to find out the correlation between depression and body type recognition,
physical activity, eating habits and oral health in community-dwelling female seniors aged 65 and older.
Methods : Among the participants in the community health survey conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2019, 43,564 elderly women were surveyed. Based on the results of the depression experience response, the relationship between body type recognition, eating habits, and oral health was analyzed. Demographic characteristics were often analyzed, depression and physical activity, eating habits and oral health correlated.
Results : Studies have shown that depression has a static correlation with weight control efforts and moderate
physical activity, breakfast frequency, diet salt content, subjective oral health, and work discomfort experience. It showed no significant correlation with body shape recognition or intense physical activity.
Conclusion : The results of this study show that factors related to physical activity and oral health are related
to depression. In the future, various factors will need to be considered to prevent and manage depression in older women, and research on meaningful policy directions will be needed.
