The main purpose of this paper is to present how the current status and systematic environment of religious textbook provided, and finally acknowledge the tasks and direction for the development of textbook for future in secondary schools established by Wonbuddhism. For those, by through the analysis of the papers precedent and textbooks developed, I ’d like to present the results of this study so far as follows. First, there are some tasks concerning the development of textbooks how to apply the systematic environment (eg: curriculum, Act of student right, policies of government on textbooks, etc) to the religious textbook development. Second, recently we can acknowledge the some cases of development of religious textbook, taken an examples, in Buddhism, Protestant, Unification Church etc. The other words, it means that in near future, it needs to develop the new textbooks, based upon changing environment of religious textbooks. Third, in Wonbuddhism, two kinds of religious textbooks were developed in 2002 for middle school students and 2000 for high school students. Finally, it is the time for me to suggest some ideas on the direction of religious textbook development in future. First, it need the some process model of textbook development, at least in shared part beyond the each religious orders, that is to say participation of community organized with various members (composed with academic association community, school teachers, parents representative etc). Second, in order to extend the use of religious textbook in Korean secondary schools, I’d like to recommend the participation of school teachers to the development of religious textbook, and also reflect the needs and feedback in school based ideas on that. Furthermore as possible, reconsider the financial and administrational support for those tasks.
