This study aimed to develop an EPL physical computing program using microbit as a metaverse platform for teachers who deliver elementary SW education. It investigated differences in students’ ability to utilize information and communication technology, class satisfaction with metaverse utilization, necessary supplementary points for metaverse platform classes, and others. The program was developed after a feasibility study involving 15 experts . The developed education program was implemented with elementary and secondary school teachers and SW instructors.
The study concluded as follows. First, the teachers and instructors who participated in the metaverse-based education program developed in this study expressed their willingness to reparticipate in similar trainings or in-depth education, and the study found high satisfaction among them. Second, during the perception survey, it was possible to confirm the teachers’ and instructors’ willingness to use them in actual educational settings. Further, after receiving training, the teachers and instructors who applied the actual Gather Town to deliver education were able to confirm the strengths and weaknesses of the metaverse platform and the difficulty of conducting classes while designing their classrooms using Gather Town.
