PURPOSE This study aims to explain early childhood character education in terms of Catholic education. Despite the advantages of character education in Catholicism, there are only a few studies, especially in early childhood education.
CONTENTS The possibility of Catholicism in early childhood character education was examined, and an attempt was made to link Catholic elements with national kindergarten curriculum character education elements, and examples of practical activities of Catholic early childhood character education were presented.
RESULTS First, Catholic education had advantages in character education which are Catholicism emphasizes the original grace not the original sin, Catholic universality and openness, the aspect of frugality and ecological responsibility. Second, in the Nuri curriculum, ‘people who living together’ is in the same context as Catholic life education. Third, virtue-centered character education has limitations. Fourth, an example of character education activities was presented through a narrow, broad approach. Finally, teachers should pay attention to the feasibility of life, and that character education programs containing examples of activities should be produced and distributed so that they can be easily used in Catholic churches.
