This study aims to verify the effects of the training program based on a self-supervision model for novice play therapists on the basis of an integrated approach and implementing the program to which the model is applied. Study 1 developed a self-supervision model for novice play therapists. The development of the research model was based on the counseling and psychological education program development process by Kim Chang-dae et al. (2011). Study 2 was to verify the effects of the training program for novice play therapists based on the finally-developed self-supervision model. A total of 12 novice play therapists participated in the three-month self-supervision with one of their play therapy cases, and 11 out of 12 data was used for the analysis. There were self-reported quantitative evaluations for the participants. The results showed that the self-supervision training program significantly improved the play therapy performance of the novice play therapists. And overall counselor development level of the novice play therapists significantly improved through the self-supervision program. By developing a systematic and structured model through this study, that can be enabling the beginners of self-supervision program to easily access and practically utilize the program. In addition, it is meaningful in that it applied the model to the treatment cases, and derived its effects. At the conclusion, the limitations of this study and suggestions of follow-up studies were discussed.
