[Objective] The purpose of this study is to analyze 2021 UNESCO report “Reimaging Our Futures Together: a new social contract for education” from the perspective of philosophy of education in the era of climate change. [Contents] To accomplish this purpose, this study focuses on the new understanding of “Earth” and “human” in the report. The report suggests that the “living planet” is endangered by climate change, and thus a shift to climate change education. Furthermore, it is urged to recognize that humans depend on nonhuman and that nonhuman have agency. Finally, in order to learn such a world view, it is suggested that knowledge should be diversified, and especially learn the way of life in indigenous communities. [Conclusions] The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, 2021 UNESCO report reflects planetary awareness such as “Earth in danger.” Second, the reflection on the status of human beings is emphasized that humans are in a interdependent relationship with nonhuman. Third, concepts such as “social contract” or “global citizenship” in the report need to be modified with concepts such as “natural contract” or “planetary citizenship.” Fourth, philosophical clues to the direction of climate change education can be found in Korean modern thought.
