이 연구의 목적은 청소년의 자아존중감이 협동심을 통해 공격성에 미치는 영향에서 인지적 공감의 조절된 매개효과를 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 생산하는 ‘한국아동⋅청소년패널조사 2018’의 초등학교 4학년 코호트 자료 중 2021년도에 조사된 중학교 1학년 2,275명(남학생 1,145명, 여학생 1,130명)을 연구대상으로 하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS PROCESS macro version 4.2의 Model 4와 Model 7을 활용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 청소년의 자아존중감과 공격성간에 협동심의 매개효과가 확인되어, 청소년의 자아존중감이 높을수록 협동심도 높아졌고 이는 낮은 공격성으로 이어졌다. 또한, 청소년의 자아존중감과 협동심의 관계에서 인지적 공감의 조절효과가 나타났다. 마지막으로 청소년의 자아존중감과 협동심, 공격성 간의 관계에서 인지적 공감의 조절된 매개효과가 유의미하여 인지적 공감의 수준이 높아질수록 매개효과는 커짐을 확인하였다. 이 연구는 청소년의 공격성에 대한 자아존중감의 직접효과와 협동심을 통한 간접효과를 확인하였으며, 인지적 공감의 조절된 매개효과를 확인함으로써 공격성을 다루기 위해서는 자신에 대한 존중과 더불어 타인에 대한 이해가 동시에 필요하다는 점을 실증적으로 밝혔다는 데에 의의가 있다. 이 연구의 결과가 청소년의 공격성을 완화시키기 위한 교육 및 상담 현장에서 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the moderated mediating effect of cognitive empathy on the relationship between self-esteem and aggression through co-operation among adolescents. For this purpose, data from 2,275 first-year middle school students from the ‘Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018’ were used. The col-lected data were analyzed using Model 4 and Model 7 of SPSS PROCESS macro version 4.2. As a result, the mediating effect of cooperation between adolescents' self-esteem and aggression was confirmed. Furthermore, the moderating effect of cognitive empathy was found in the relationship between self-esteem and cooperation. Finally, the mod-erated mediating effect of cognitive empathy was significant in the relationship between self-esteem, cooperation, and aggression in adolescents, and the higher the level of cog-nitive empathy, the greater the mediating effect. This research confirms the direct effect of self-esteem on aggression and the indirect effect through cooperation. By demon-strating the moderated mediating effect of cognitive empathy, the study empirically high-lights the importance of both self-respect and understanding others simultaneously in addressing aggression. The results of this study can be used as basic data in the field of education and counseling to mitigate aggression in adolescents.
