This purpose of this study was to investigate what kinds of therapeutic experiences a participant who wants to have a friendship through person-centered art therapy had. The treatment course was mainly conducted in an unstructured manner. From June 10, 2017 to December 17, 2018, out of total 51 sessions, first 40 sessions were conducted once a week, and from 41st session to the final session were conducted once every two weeks. The participant in the study was a female student in her first year of junior high school in D city. Through a counseling journal containing observations kept by the researcher for all the research sessions, interviews with the participant s parents, and the supervision, this study examined the treatment experiences of the participant by analyzing changes in person-centered treatment and experience. First, the participant made friends. As a result of analyzing the case the study, the participant was able to confirm that the change from the disagreement state to the consensus state occurred according to the change pattern of person-centered therapy. In addition, the analysis of the experience of the treatment process included the categories of “dangerous outside world”, “attempt to open mind”, “beginning of communication and self-understanding”, and “fun of friendship”. The meaning of this study is to broaden the understanding of art therapy case analysis by examining in depth through case studies what kinds of therapeutic experiences a participant had through person-centered art therapy.
