In this study, the characteristics of grandparents' grandchild care, learning, and management, which are exclusively raised in grandparents' families, were derived, and tasks to be performed for their role as guardians were discussed. To this end, five grandparents from grandchildren's families in Chungcheongnam-do were interviewed and analyzed qualitatively according to phenomenological methods. The conclusions of the study are as follows. First, the experience of grandparents raising grandchildren encompassed 'care' and 'learning and life management'. Second, grandparents of grandchildren's family are struggling to take care of their grandchildren's food, clothing, and daily care, and they experience challenges in supporting their grandchildren's physical, emotional, and socio-cultural development. Third, in the "learning and life management" experience, grandparents encounter “difficulties in performing parental roles, including managing learning habits and educational activities,” as well as “worry and anxiety related to managing and guiding their grandchildren's daily lives”. Based on the results of the study, the tasks for grandparents to successfully fulfill their roles as primary caregivers were discussed.
