The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between Childhood trauma, alexithymia, experiential avoidance, and somatic symptoms in adults subjects and to verify the dual mediating effect of alexithymia and experiential avoidance in the relationship between childhood trauma and somatic symptoms. The subjects of this study were 473 adults aged 19 to 49, and were measured using the Korean version of the childhood trauma scale, alexithymia scale, experiential avoidance scale, and somatic symptoms scale. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and PROCESS Macro programs The results of this study are as follows. First, It was found that the mediated effect of alexithymia was significant in the effect of childhood trauma on somatizatic symptoms. Second, the simple mediated effect of experiential avoidance in the effect of childhood trauma on somatizatic symptoms were not significant. Third, the continuous dual mediation effects of alexithymia and experiential avoidance were found to be significant. Childhood trauma experiences directly affected somatizatic symptoms and indirectly influenced alexithymia and experiential avoidance. The result of this study suggest that therapeutic intervention on alexithymia and experiential avoidance is necessary to reduce the problem of somatizatic symptoms. Based on the research results, the implications and limitations of present study, and suggestions for future research are more to be discussed.
