This study systematically analyzed a total of 11 studies, which were published out of South Korea
between 1990 and 2011, for the transition of students with learning disabilities(LD) in terms of its
characteristics such as participants, research method, procedures, and results. In addition, the quality
of the studies based on the quality indicators of research in special education provided by Gersten et
al.(2005) and Brantlinger et al.(2005) were evaluated to explore the possibility as an evidence-based
practice for successful transition of children or adults with learning disabilities. The results of this
study were as the follows. First, self-awareness on learning disabilities, self-disclosure, selfdetermination
skills, self-advocacy skills, students’ responsible involvement in the ITP or IEP
meetings, and academic experience in inclusive settings were analyzed as promising components for
the transition model for students with learning disabilities. Second, analysis of the studies by the
quality indicators resulted that 4 qualitative studies out of 5 have met all the indicators but group
design studies have not met all the indicators except for one study. Suggestions for the future
research with discussion based on the results of this study were provided.
