이 연구는 인천광역시 고등학교 특수학급 졸업생(2000년 - 2003년도)을 대상으로 취업실태와 직무, 취업관련 경로, 직업특성을 조사․분석하고, 개선방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있었다. 이를 위하여 선행연구를 검토한 후 학교용 조사지와 졸업생용 조사지의 두 종류를 개발하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 취업실태 면에서는 취업68.9%, 미취업 22.2%, 교육․훈련 6.7%로 높은 취업률을 보였으며, 직무는 부품조립․ 생산제조 67.8%, 제과․제빵 14.5%, 서비스업 11.3%, 기타 6.5%로 나타났다. 둘째, 취업관련 경로 면에서는 한 번의 경로를 가진 졸업생이 70%로 가장 높았다. 셋째, 직업특성 면에서는 취업알선, 고용유형, 근무시간, 급여, 취업기간, 취업만족, 상호작용 대상을 조사․분석하였다. 취업실태조사 결과는 인천광역시 고등학교 특수학급을 졸업한 장애학생들의 취업률이 전국의 2003년 고등학교 특수학급 졸업생 취업률 40%보다 훨씬 그 비율이 높음을 보여 주었다. 이는 인천광역시 고등학교 특수학급 졸업생이 전국의 고등학교 특수학급 졸업생들보다, 평균적으로 볼 때, 직업인으로서 사회통합에 보다 근접하고 있음을 보여준다. 이 연구에서는 또한 지역사회 기반의 다양한 전환교육 실천 프로그램 모색, 전환교육 실천을 위한 전담교사의 필요성, 전환 모델 개발, 다른 시 도의 고등학교 특수학급 졸업생의 취업실태 조사 필요성 등이 제안되었다.
The study investigated the occupational status, job duties, tracks related to employment, and job characteristics of graduates of high school special classes in Inchon City. To collect data, a telephone survey was implemented using two types of questionnaire, one for special education teachers, the other for graduates\' family. The results of the study was as follows: First, among the 90 graduates, employment rate was 68.9%, unemployment rate was 22.2%, and training and education rate was 6.7%. Second, regarding the tracks related to employment, 70% of the graduates had one track, 27.8% of them had two tracks, and 2.2% of them had three tracks. Third, the characteristics of jobs, employment types, working hours, average monthly wage, the degree of job satisfaction, interaction with the people were also surveyed. The results of the study suggested for the development of various transition education practice programs in community based, the application of the survey in other cities and provinces, the importance of the qualified vocational special education teachers, and the expansion of the transition education focusing on adult community lives.
