본 연구는 인공와우를 착용한 청각장애 대학생들을 대상으로 인공와우에 대한 만족도 및 적응 실태 등을 파악하여 인공와우 수술 선택 및 사후 관리의 기초자료로 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위해 인공와우 이식수술을 받은 청각장애 대학생 21명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 일 반적인 사항 7문항과 인공와우 착용에 대한 만족도 관련 4문항, 적응 실태 관련 18문항으로 총 29 문항으로 구성하였다. 본 연구결과, 첫째, 청각장애 대학생의 인공와우 착용에 대한 만족도에서 보통이 가장 높았고, 만 족과 매우 만족은 미흡과 매우 미흡에 비해 2배에서 3배 정도 높게 나왔다. 하지만 여전히 보통이 높은 부분을 차지하고 있다는 것은 인공와우가 청각장애인에게 청각보조수단으로서 확실한 만족감 을 주지 못하고 있다는 것을 시사하고 있다. 둘째, 인공와우 착용 적응 실태에서는 최소 3개월 이상 보청기 사용 및 집중교육을 받은 후에 인공와우 수술을 결정해야함에도 대상자의 1/3이 이러한 과정 이 무시되고 수술이 이루어졌다. 또한 95.2%가 인공와우 착용기간이 4년 이상임에도 불구하고 언어 를 이해하는 비율이 42.8%이고, 나머지 57.2%는 언어를 전혀 알아듣지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 인공와우 착용기간이 길다고 해서 언어 이해력이 반드시 좋아지지 않음을 의미한다. 이상을 종합해 볼 때 인공와우는 청각장애인에게 도움은 되지만 여전히 개선해야할 부분이 많음을 알 수 있다.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for cochlear implant operation and its management through investigating the level of satisfaction of hearing impaired college students who took cochlear implants and their adaptation. For this study 21 students who had received cochlear implant operations participated. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the level of satisfaction consists of four topics : hearing rehabilitation program, subject of operation decision, hearing comprehension ability and cochlear implant operation. Most students rate as “average” in every item, especially they rate as “more average” in the over satisfaction than under unsatisfaction. － － Second, the students’ adaptation to cochlear implants is like this. After receiving operations, most of them took hearing rehabilitation program and got trained once a week. The place for training was a treatment room in the hospital. It usually took less than 2 years or more than 5 years for them to be trained. Many of them says that they do not always use the cochlear implants. They use them whenever they need or they use them once in a while. Mainly their parents make a decision on the operation conducting, but they scarcely know about the operation procedure because of inadequate explanation. 71.4 percent of students answers that the cochlear implant helps them, but 28.6percent of them answers it doesn’t. In conclusion, the cochlear implant is useful for the hearing－impaired but there are still lots of things to be improved. In my opinion, it is necessary that there has to be thorough explanation about effectiveness and procedure of cochlear implant operation. If it goes with systematleahearing rehabilitation program, the cochlear implants will contribute to better social life as well as vocational life ill contribute to be college students.
