The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of national health gymnastics II(easy gymnastics) on elderly people's
stress, interpersonal relationship and loneliness and their dropout, and to provide some information on the emotional effect of
elderly people's participation in that gymnastics and how to prevent their dropout. The subjects in this study were 32 people
who were selected from the senior citizens in the region of Y, North Choongcheong Province. Out of them, 21 senior citizens
continued to participate in the program during the 12-week period of time, and 11 elderly people dropped out. The findings
of the study were as follows: First, the senior citizens who participated in the national health gymnastics II program suffered
less stress about family relations, finance and daily routine life. They showed improvement in their interpersonal relationship
and felt less lonely, and all their changes were statistically significant(p<.001). Second, as a result of having an in-depth interview
of the dropouts, it's found that they gave up participating in the program because they felt the movements were too
fast, strenuous, complex and difficult to do, and another reason was that the exercise made them feel sick and wasn't appropriate
for them. Some replied they just didn't want to exercise. As a result of asking them what they wanted about the program,
some asked for exercise that would not be strenuous nor difficult to do, and others answered they had no idea.
