본 연구는 음악을 통한 그림책 읽기활동이 영아의 사회 · 정서적 행동과 의사소통능력에 미치는 영향 을 알아보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전남 M군에 소재한 두 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 2세 영아 36명을 선정한 후, 이를 실험집단 18명, 비교집단 18명으로 나누었다. 총 16주 동안 2주에 걸쳐 매일 1권씩을 음악을 통한 그림책 읽기활동을 실시한 결과, 실험집단 영아들에게는 일상적 방법으로 그림책만을 읽어 준 비교집단 영아들에 비해 사회 · 정서적 긍정행동과 내면적 문제행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 의사소통능력에서도 유의미한 향상을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 음악을 통한 그림책 읽 기활동이 영아들의 사회․정서적 행동뿐만 아니라 의사소통능력에도 긍정적인 영향을 주는 효과적인 교육 방법임을 시사하는 것이라 하겠다.
The purpose of this study was to find the effects of reading picture books through music on the social and emotional behavior, and communication ability of infants. The subjects of this study were 36 two-year-old infants in two child care centers located in M-gun. The 18 infants of one child care center belong to an experimental group, and the 18 infants of the other belong to a comparative group. This study had been done for 16 weeks. The experimental group showed more meaningful advances in social and emotional behavior and communication ability than the comparative one. This result means that reading picture books through music with words turned out to be one of effective teaching methods by influencing positively not only the social and emotional behavior but also the communication ability of infants in child care centers.
