「오행(五行)」편은 내심(內心)의 주체적인 선험성의 의식을 부각시켰고, 내심의 도덕적인 단서로부터 출발하여 내심과 음악의 상관관계 속으로 깊이 들어갈 것을 강조하였다. 간서(簡書)는 인도(人道),천도(天道)로부터 선(善), 덕(德)의 구분을 논하였다. 그 사상 경향은 덕의 한 방향으로 나아가는 것, 즉 덕은 인(人)과 천(天)이 동일한 근본(根本)이라는 것을 가리키는 것이다. 덕(德)은 선진(先秦) 문화전통으로부터 나온 것인데, 상제(上帝) 혹은 천명(天命), 도체(道體)의 의미를 가지기도 하였다. 이것들을 종합하여 천(天) 혹은 천도(天道)라고 말하였다. 특히 간서(簡書)에서는 성지(聖智)는 예악(禮樂)의 본원이 된다고 보았다. 본 논문에서는 어떻게 선과 덕을 발휘시키고, 그 과정 중에 예악의 작용은 어떻게 일어나는지, 천도(天道)와 인도(人道), 오행(五行)과 음악의 역학관계(力學關係)를 조명하려고 하였다.
