This study researched the concept of child creativity and contextual learning to investigate the relevance
of contextual learning based moving image materials and child creativity, and suggested the appropriate
teaching strategies and teaching methods. The results could be summarized as follows.
First, this study proposed the concept of “mini-creativity”, which focuses on the process, personal
experience, and potential of child creativity. Second, contextual learning can enhance child creativity by
providing the understanding of context of knowledge, and opportunity to apply the knowledge in the real
world or possible(or imaginary) situation. These traits can be enhanced by proper teaching strategies such
as realistic, participation, activity, cooperation, and discussion. Third, the most popular moving image
materials such as Pororo, and Magic School Bus, are composed on the story format, which support the
children to comprehend knowledge based on the context, and apply it in the real-like situation. Fourth,
the authors supposed the teaching guide, in which the teacher encourage children to learn the nature of
magnet on the context, talk about their experience, and explore more on the basis of context. During the
class, children could experience the cognitive strategies such as attention, elaborate encoding, self reference,
emotion induction.
In conclusion, the important thing in child creativity education on the context learning based moving
image materials is the quality of interaction between children and teacher. The strength of context based
teaching is not sufficient, and it would be more important to recognize the interest of children, give
encouragement and provide children relevant learning contents to cultivate latent creativity of children.
