This study conducted a questionnaire survey toward parents at a special school in C city so as to
find out the awareness and intent-to-use of parents at special schools about adult guardianship
system which is expected to implement on July 1, 2013. The analysis findings show that in the
awareness about adjust guardianship system those parents became aware of only 1 item out of 7
items, and there was a significant difference between groups in the education background and
monthly household income. For the intent-to-use, 80.4% of parents answered that they would use
this system in future, and there was a significant difference between groups depending on
disability rating. In addition, parents were aware that this adult guardianship system would
contribute to human rights and welfare promotion of the disabled, preferring social workers as
adult guardian.
