Regarding changes in student's behavior, it is more important how the student accepts the teacher's expectation than how the teacher expects to the student. The Process whereby the student accepts the teacher's expectation is more devided into three stages : perception, interpretation, and reception. This study was concerned with the student's reception to the teacher's expectation, the third stage. Student's reception and the degree of it are influenced by many factors. Among them, three variables are salient. They are the teacher who expects to the student, the student who is expected by teacher and the situation in which the expectation of the teacher is expressed to the student. First of all, this study focused on the situation variable. The aim of this study was to analyze the difference of the student's reception degree to the teacher's expectation by situation type. This study selected four comparable situation types in which the student's reception degree was different. They were publcic-nonpublic, frequent-infrequent, suitable-unsuitable and fair-unfair situations. Four hypotheses were suggested according to the aim of this study. 1. The reception degree of the student to the expectation of the teacher would be higher in public than nonpublic situations. 2. The reception degree of the student to the expectation of the teacher would be higher in frequent than infrequent situations. 3. The reception degree of the student to the expectation of the teacher would be higher in suitable than unsuitable situations. 4. The reception degree of the student to the expectation of the teacher would be higher in fair than unfair situations. The participants were 382 5th and 6th graders from five primary schools in C city. A Survey was obtained by using a questionnaire that the reseacher developed. To test the hypotheses, a t-test was used. The results supported all the hypotheses except hypothesis 1. Contrary to hypothesis 1, the reception degree of the student to the expectation of the teacher was higher in the nonpublic than the public situation. The reason was discussed at the end of this study.
