The purpose of this study was to analyse the recent research trends of 231 articles of the family therapy reflected in the two journals "Family Process", 1983-1985 and "Journal of Family Therapy", 1981-1985. For analysis, 22 criteria in research contents, 28 criteria in research methodology, and 12 criteria in characteristics of the researchers were employed. Followings were the results from the study. 1. Research contents in both journals were heavily clined to more theoretical than empirical. 2. Research methodology of the empicical articles in both journals was similar tendencies in sujects, level of therapists' education, type of intervention, therapy place, and times of sessions, except dependent vaialles. However in dependent variables, "Family Process" was centered on search for characteristics of family process and "Journal of Family Therapy" on treatment. 3. More than half researchers in "Family Process" were psychologists with Ph.D. and worked in university.
