The purposes of this study are to analyze the ideas, goals, realms and the institutes in charge of peace education that nowadays appears as very significant tasks of education. The basic idea of peace education is to develop the man's abilities to overcome the apathy of non-peaceful phenomena as a war and the structural violences, and so that we can make a peace in the world. The realms of peace education are not limited in military aspect. But also the environmental education and the education of unification can be discussed within the boundary of peace education, because the environmental education is originated in the respect of human life and the education of unification tries to overcome the conflicts of national division. All of these are related with conditions of peace, and will contribute to make a peace in a broad sense. So the peace education is not only the tasks of school education, but also the important tasks of family and social education. Following the results of this study is the role of society to peace education is especially significant. And through the critical peace education that is rooted in the critical theory, we can improve the conditions of human life and so that the human dignity would be respected, and we can build up the righteos and democratized society.
