This study was designed 1) to discuss about interpersonal behavior patterns and structures which are products of interpersonal social situations, 2) to find out interpersonal behavior factors of womens college students, 3) to test the effects of home atmosphere variables upon interpersonal behavior factors, and 4) to analyze respondent distribution by important items of the Interpersonal Behavior Scales. The Interpersonal Behavior Scales(IBS) used in this study is preliminary form for further standardization. This Scale is composed of eight subcategories proposed by Leary and Foa. The samples for this study consisted of 436 students of Junior college in Kyungsangnam-Do Province. It involved 210 nursing student, and 226 non-nursing students. The results of this study are summerized as follows: 1. In interpersonal behavior characteristics, general womens' college students are superior in Responsible-Hypernormal behavior and Cooperative-Overconventional behavior, inferior in Aggressive-Sadistic behavior and Competitive-Narcissistic behavior. 2. Examining the effects of the home atmosphere variables upon the interpersonal behavior factors, the growing place, mumbers of a family and atmosphere of home tend to be related positively to the interpersonal behavior factors. 3. It was evidenced that the interpersonal structures could be arranged into a systematic circumplex order by this preliminary study. 4. The Interpersonal Behavior Scales can be used as a Scales for diagnosing, categorizing and predicting the interpersonal behavior diagnose of individual.
