Two weeks ago, on November 15th, G-20 leaders assembled in Washington for the Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy. The aim of the meeting was apparently to fix the world's financial system that had recently plunged into a state of panic. The leaders of the Group of Twenty discussed ways to preserve global growth and explored measures to reform the world's economic systems. However, they put off some crucial yet troublesome decisions till next year, such as those on how countries may actually deal with the current economic crisis. During the Summit, the U.S. President stressed the principle of free markets and trade, while many European leaders contended the need for more effective rules of regulation and the reform of global systems. Still other leaders from emerging economies like China and India voiced different opinions out loud. Scenes like this, easily found in today's international community, are a representative outcome of the ongoing expansion of globalization.
