李德弘(1541～1596)은 『四書質疑』, 『周易質疑』, 『心經質疑』, 『 古文質疑』(前ㆍ後集), 『家禮註解』, 『朱子書節要講錄』(上ㆍ下) 등의 다양한 저술을 남긴 학자이다. 그러나 기존의 연구에서는 이에 대한 구체적인 분석은 시도된 적이 없었다. 본고에서는 李德弘의 저술 가운데 『四書質疑』를 분석하여, 『四書質疑』의 異本을 검토 하고 李德弘의 경전 해석 태도 등을 고찰하고자 한다. 『四書質疑』는 『艮齋續集』에 수록된 것이 가장 많이 알려져 있 으며, 『韓國經學資料集成』에도 이 판본을 수용했다. 그러나 필자 가 조사한 바에 따르면, 국립중앙도서관과 서울대학교 규장각에 단행본으로 된 『四書質疑』가 남아 있은 것이 확인되었다. 수록 내용의 同異와 詳略을 검토해 본 결과, 규장각본 『四書質疑』가 비교적 원형에 가까우며 續集本은 후대 누군가의 손을 거쳐 재 편됨 것임을 알 수 있었다. 『四書質疑』는 「論語質疑」-「孟子質疑」-「中庸質疑」-「大學質疑」 순으로 구성되어 있으며, 이 가운데 「論語質疑」는 전체 분량의 3/4을 차지한다. 따라서 「論語質疑」의 분석을 통해 이덕홍의 경 서 해석 양상을 1) 小註에 대한 관심과 集註의 보완, 2) 集註에 根據한 退溪說의 繼承, 3) 名物에 대한 該博한 考證등 세 가지 로 분류할 수 있었다. 李德弘의 경서 해석은 스승인 退溪와 당대에 이미 상당한 권 위를 지녔던 朱子의 설을 온전히 계승하려는 경향이 강했다. 그 러나 『論語集註大全』을 정밀하게 검토하여 퇴계와 주자의 미진 한 해설을 보충하려 했으며, 名物 制度의 고증에서는 나름대로의 해석을 가했다고 평가할 수 있다.
The purpose of this study is to examine SaSeoGilY'e (四書質疑) by lee-duck hong. This study used the following materials as objects of analysis : Therefore, this report suggests a solution for the problem by grasping the volumes of the Korean Annotation of the Analects of Confucius(『論語』), by summarizing them and by introducing the outline of them. the contents of the Korean Annotation of the Analects of Confucius should be discussed. In this dissertation, the works are limited from the middle 16th century to the early 17th century which originated the Korean Annotation of the Analects of Confucius as it is not possible to examine all those 310 kinds of the Korean Annotation of the Analects of Confucius. Then, the text for the Korean Annotation of the Analects of Confucius was based on NonEoJipJuDaeJun (『論語集註大全』) and annotated versions published are NonEoSukY'e (『論語釋義』) by Lee Hyaung, NonEoGilY'e (『 論語質疑』) by Lee Duk Hong. Those annotated books are characterized in that they adhere to NonEoJipJu(『論語集註』) by Chu Hsi. At that time, They are to put an importance on scholia what Chu Hsi is to focus on scholia interpretation. However, they are different from the middle 17th century's interpretators in that they have their own creativity and diversity when they translate the Analects [Discourses] of Confucius. The chapter two explored the background of appearance of the commentary on the Analects on Confucius and its actual circumstance of compilation in the middle Joseon period. The following two elements acted on as the background of emergence of the commentary: (1) the problem of propriety in interpretation of the Classics language; and (2) the influx of Daejeonbon (大全本) and the demand of references. The investigation of the real condition in compilation of the commentary was proceeded in two aspects: (1) the present state of compiled materials; and (2) the character and characteristics of major materials.
