본고는 퇴계 칭병시의 본격적 연구에 앞선 선행작업이라 할 수 있다. 퇴계시에서 ‘병’은 단순히 신체적 질병만을 의미하지 않는다. 퇴계시에서 칭병을 말할 때는 다층적 의미로 분화되어 나타나고 있다. 현실과의 관 계, 개인과 국가간의 관계 속에서 칭병의 역할은 달라지고 있다. 그리고 공간과 시간에 따라 칭병의 의미는 분화되어 다층적 의미와 다양한 장치 수단으로서의 역할을 하고 있다. 그런 점에서 퇴계 칭병시에 대한 본격 적인 연구를 위해서는 칭병시의 DB화가 우선 되어야 한다. 퇴계 칭병시에 대한 본격적이고 순차적 연구를 위해 퇴계 시집 가운 데 칭병어가 들어있는 246수를 가려내 이를 DB화 하였다. 이를 바탕으 로 칭병에 드러난 특징적 면을 ‘상투적 칭병’, ‘질병에 의한 칭병’, ‘명분 을 위한 칭병’, ‘기타 칭병’으로 유형화 하였다. 칭병시의 유형화를 통해 각 유형의 칭병어를 가려 그 특징적 면모를 분석하였다. ‘상투적 칭병’ 유형에서는 칭병을 통해 퇴계의 다양한 의도와 칭병이 지닌 다층적 의미 를 찾아낼 수 있었고, ‘명분을 위한 칭병’ 유형에서는 퇴계의 출처진퇴관 과 그의 지향의식이 무엇인지 파악할 수 있었다. ‘기타 칭병’ 유형에서는 퇴계의 다양한 의식적 면모를 밝힐 수 있었다. 본고가 밝힌 퇴계 칭병시 의 DB화와 유형 분류 및 분석은 차후 본격적인 칭병시 연구를 위한 준 비 작업으로서의 의의가 있다.
This study is a pre-task for a full-scale research of Toegye’s Chingbyungsi. For a full-scale and a sequential research for Chingbyungsi, this study is to sort out 246 poems in which Chingbyung words are contained among Toegye’s poems, and then to create a database of them. Based on this work, the features in Chingbyung are classified into ‘Conventional Chingbyung’, ‘Chingbyung by illness’, ‘Chingbyung for a justification’, ‘other Chingbyungs’. By way of this classification of Chingbyungsi, the Chingbyung words of each class are sorted out, and then their features are analyzed. Consequently, in the class of ‘Conventional Chingbyung’, Toegye’s various purposes and the multi-layered meanings of Chingbyung are found out. In the class of ‘Chingbyung for a justification’, Toegye's view on entrance into office and retired life in communion with nature, and his orientation are identified. In the class of ‘Other Chingbyungs’, his various aspects of consciousness are investigated.
