This paper is about the history , policy and peculiarity of the museums in the Nordic Countries: Oenmark, Finland , Iceland, Norway and Sweden. First 1 considered the historica1 background of the museums in the Countries through the cases of Oenmark and Sweden, and in addition to explained four persons who played the key roles at the history of the museums in the Countries. And 1 chose a museum in each five countries and explained simply the history of the museum. 1 investigated the museum policy and the authority which executes the general direction and supervision of the museum system, and the remarkable matter among the museum policies of the Countries. 1 studied also some common peculiarities of the museums in the Countries and it was implemented by the investigation of the museum policies and remarkable matters of the Countries. It is about the interactive cooperation with the other museums operated domestically and internationally, open-air museum and the concern with environmental and ecological matters . The five Nordic Countries are not 'big' or 'strong' countries. But they early estab!ished rational and democratic social system, and now they are regarded as that they created the new model as the unique welfare states. By the investigation of the history , policy and peculiarity of the museums in such the welfare states. 1 would examine the current situation of the museums in Korea, and 1 would also find the way which can solve the difficulties and problems, if they are.
