This article attempts to suggest the practical manual of selecting a museum site, of constructing a Buddhist temple museum, and of installing 1ts facilities. 1t is known to us that the first Buddhist temple museum is the Tongdosa Buddhist Temple Museum in the perspective of modern museum. At present there are 34 Buddhist temple museums in Korea. Out of the numbers of 34 museums only the number of 18 museums are opened to the public. 1n general, a museum should be consisted with 6 components in 3 parts: one is the human resources included a founder and or a manager and users, the other is the tangible material evidence and intangible immaterial information, another is the space or area for the museum activities or business. How to select a museum site and how to progress the investigation of the proposed museum si tes. Before selecting the museum site, the following fac tors are throughly investigated by the members of investigation committee in the perspective of natural environmental conditions, the security, the symbolic images, access, actuality and equity. 1t is certain that a Buddhist temple museum should be designed and constructed in the foundation of Korean tradition and in the harmony of t.raditionallayout of Buddhists temple and surrounding environments. For the best of Buddhist temple museum building, we have to consider the proper size and space of a musellm blliJding, the adeqllate construction materials and technology, the di stincti ve and memorial design of a museum building.
