박물관은 평생학습과 사회교육 정보교류 위락향유를 위해서 유무형의 자료와 정보를 수집 , 조 사, 연구하고, 유산을보존, 관리하면서, 전시, 교육, 교류 활동을통해서 인류사회의 발전과자연 환경의 보호에 이바지 하는 복합문화공간이라고 할 수 있다1) 박물관 교육은 문화와 자연을 매개 로 박물관의 설립취지에 부합판 교육2) 목표를 설정하고 쌍방향 교류를 통해서 평생교육-3)을 실 행함으로써 사회의 발전과 환경보호에 이바지한다 “박물관의 평생교육’ 에 대해서는 역사적으로 이미 1951년 7월 「런던회의」에서 사회교육’ 을 언급하기 시작하였고, 그 후 1962년 「미국박물관 협회 (A돼이) J 는 박물관을 항구적 비영리단체이며 교육과 문화적인 공공기관’ 이라고 정의했다- 1974년 덴마크에서 개최한 「국제박물관협의회」에서는 ’사회교육기관’ 으로 명시하였다‘ .. 평생 교육의 개념은 UNESCO에 의히여 1965년경부터 발전하기 시작하였다 한국의 평생교육 개 념도 UNESCO 한국위원회의 선구적 역할로 보급, 발전되어질 수 있었다."
This article represents the basic concept of museum education based on lifelong learning as well as non-formal education. For the better educationallife, I would like to recommend you as museum workers the excellence of lifelong education rather than social education which are known to us as non-formal education required by the Govemment or the just related society. Basically museum education is foc used on leaming expelience or self-study more than teaching knowledge through exhibitions and or events. Lifelong education in the museum world can contribute members of a community both to develop education al variation and to educate cultural contents those are not available in a formal school. At present, a museum is a cultural communjcation center as well as a lifelong education core in relation with eduinfortainment in the perspective of muti-purposes and multifunctions. Due to bot only internet as world wide web but a1so ubiquitous system with Wab commurucation network, if someone hopes to visit to a museum any time, he or she can easily to visit the museum in cyber world through a Web browser on line. It is certain that elearning to the so-called Utizen or N generation is a popular educational system on line based web or Wab. In the future, education programs in a museum will be projected and executed by a museum educatio nal team or collaboration a educational staff with vario us museum pecialists such as curator, exhibition designer, marketing staff, etc. in the perspective of multi-cultural aspect as well as inter-di sciplinary research for the better interactive communication between ed ucational staff and target participants. Pl anning a museum education program in view of a heritage management should better to be concerned with fo ur main functions of educational effect such as surveillance of the environment, correlation of the environment, transmission of culture, and entertainment based on interactlve conmmunication. In conclusion, I strongly recommend policy makers and professionals in the museum world to give opportunities reserve educators to work for planning, executing and evaluating museum educational programs, al1d to coJl aborate with the cultural heritage interpreter (Munhwa Yusan Haeseolsa) and the lifelong education supervisor.
