The social role of the museum is getting continuously increased, and the access to the museum is getting closer to the public little by little as a consequence of proliferation of the Internet. As stated above, social environment surrounding the museum has changed constantly since the initial museum emerged. Moreover, the devel0pment of scientific technology has caused countless changes in our life. But the museum collection treated by person directly should be approached by the principle of fundamental rule rather than that of new methodology. Nevertheless, relatively few studies have been devoted to the field of collections management so far, and in particular the research on a registration of the collection has placed too much emphasis on new technique and method application. Collection is one of the most important elements which determine identity of the museum and is an essential process to make museum activities more efficient and thoroughly manageable. But there are many difficulties in terms of methodology since the collection has essentially implication, characteristic and complication and so on. Therefore, a clear standard and policy of the registration should be established before registration. The process of registration starts from carrying in the collection, recording descriptions such as counting, number grant, size measurement, name grant back to taking photo and numbering record in sequence. After collection registration has done, it is housed in the storage space. These kinds of process should not damage the collection because the registration is the process for leaving collections to our offspring by preserving and managing effectively rather than applying the collection efficiently at present. Therefore. it is important that registration policy of collections should be established and the r0le of registrar should be focused in order to register museum collections systematically.
