Funeral is a behavior of rite and also an accumulated cultural custom that have been conducted for various purposes according to the particular time period and location from ancient to modern times. Funeral of a particular nation reflects an idea of sociocultural life and the world of spirit including a view of life and death and the soul of people in contemporary era. It is with a purpose to identify where the funeral has been stood in the flow of history and what it really meant to people among the four ceremonial occasions of coming of age. In addition, it is also intended to compare how exhibition rooms of museum are realized in the light of the beginning on the new era and other changes of the life and to ultimately suggest a developmental measure as to exhibition of funeral. As a result of the exhibition of funeral at folklore museum, First of all, it is revealed that each of folklore museums showed a trend of exhibition preferring three-dimensional objects based on tangible materials that are easily collectable. Secondly, it is required to supplement an exhibition of funeral that makes the use of distinct characteristics and expertise in the region. Third, it is needed that people in charge of exhibition should improve the value of tangible assets of funeral since the exhibition of them is currently insufficient at remaining folklore museums except Gwangju City Folklore Museum. Fourth, studies and exhibition resources specifically dealing with the culture of a memorial service held before the grave in overall are currently insufficient that it is required to contemplate as to the collection of resource for memorial service culture regarding funeral and exhibition method. Fifth, it is needed to develop a story of funeral. Collecting various stories contained in each relics and organizing the exhibition of funeral that is alive with story contents are worth it. To make an additional remark, improvement of the funeral museum exhibition case analysis is as follows. Particularity of the funeral utilizing local collection and there is a need to develop storytelling. This is a practice for spiritual and cultural traditions can be a way, the story remains a living understanding of the visitors to the exhibition because the suction can improve. In addition, it is to be needed a procedure of reexamining the meaning of funeral culture for today followed by flexibly connection of the exhibition and personality education followed by establishing an education program of funeral. At last, it is with an expectation for this study to suggest an issue regarding currently-held exhibition of funeral at folklore museum, to serve as a motivation for contemplation of a measure for improvement, and to reexamine the value and meaning of traditional culture of funeral for today.
