This study intended to analyze and organize the flows and outcomes by putting together the contents
of domestic studies on remarriage, and propose the prospects of future study A content analysis was
carried out targeting 109 domestic journals and dissertations on remarriage studies published from 2000 to
2013. As a result of analyzing recent trends in studies, first, the publication status of remarriage study
showed 4 journals and 14 dissertations in 2002, sharply decreased the following year, repeated
increasing and decreasing thereafter for years, and then 2 dissertations were published in 2013 showing
declining trend of remarriage studies. Second, the status by research topic was classified into five areas
such as remarried families, senior remarriages, remarriage views and perceptions, program development and
literature researches, and showed 40 (37%) pieces on remarried families, 38 (35%) pieces on senior
remarriages, 9 (8%) pieces on remarriage views and perceptions, 9 (8%) pieces on program development
and 23 (12%) pieces on literature researches, respectively. Third, the study subject was mostly the
widowed/ remarriage considerer, and then remarriage families, remarriage home children, remarried spouse,
others/surrounding people and remarrying parties in order have been studied. Fourth, the research
method appeared to be overwhelmingly a quantitative research with the majority of 49%. Suggestions
to future studies based on the analyzed results of these domestic study trends are as follows. First, a
variety of topics in remarried families are necessary, and second, various educations and program
developments for remarried families are needed. Third, a diversity of the study subjects should be
secured, and fourth, qualitative research should be more actively conducted. Finally, active studies on
multi-cultural remarried families are considered to be urgent.
