Mr. Chae Ki Joong was a leader of national independence movement who has made up an organization for anti-Japanese independence movement under the bayonet rule of Japanese imperialism at Poongki, Kyungsangbukdo in 1913. The "Daehankwangbokdan" was the first secret party that has organized he premise of struggle with arms since we lost our rights in our nation. It was grown up over and over so that It was enlarged and reorganized to the "Daehankwangbokhoi". Afterwards it has formed the nation-wide branch network and led the anti-Japanese movement in the 1910's. After the national independence from Japan, it was newly reorganized and revived its idea and spirit in the new era and space. The party's leader, Mr. Chae Ki joong's role and status was not paid so much public attention in the history of our racial movement, whereas it has kept the significant meaning. It was proved by the fact that no paper on his life and independence movement was read until now. As for the way and the significance of anti-Japanese struggle he showed up, it should be done justice to them. Based on the above facts, I would like to examine his anti-Japanese movement and its significance as below : Firstly, through his birth and growth background, this thesis is to aim to clarify the process of the formation on his racial consciousness and his integrity for the national salvation. Secondly, it is to review the circumstances of the formation for the secret parties in our nation, the way of its activity, its points at issue. Because it is the authority that may analyze the purpose and the meaning on why he organized the "Dahankwangbokdan". Thirdly, it is to recognize the process of forming its early organization, the disposition of its members, and the distinctive feature of its policy line. That would be an effective way not only to examine the character of its early organization, but also to perceive the direction and the purpose of the anti-Japanese independence movement he tried to drive. Lastly, it refer to his influence that he contributed to the party, in the process of developing from "Daehankwangbokdan" to "kwangbokhoi". Thus it is to make clear that he made an practical and significant role in the process of changes of the party, not merely staying at its formation, In this way, this paper aims to light up Mr. Chae Ki Jeong's historical status in the history of the national movement, as we look into his anti-Japanese movement and its significance which was presented by his activity in "Daehankwangbokdan".
