It is extremely difficult to unravel the beginnings of Sun Yat-sen’s political thought because he is often regarded as a political activist rather than a political philosopher. Indeed, it is not entirely wrong in treating him as such, for he had a long illustrious career as a leader of the Chinese Revolution. But at the same time one cannot overlook the fact that he has made significant contributions to the political thought of modern China through his Three Principles of the People(三民主義).
