Children’s art covers a broad range of artistic works but can be divided into three elements such as expression through drawing, creative design, and esthetic expressionm. Among the above three elements, esthetic expression is the one most explored in children’s dimensional creative works. Children’s creative art works are pure, natural, and unrefined works which children simply enjoy doing with no particular purpose nor expected result. Creative artistic expression is very active when children develop their intelligence almost to the fullest extent. V.Lowenfeld divided Children’s development into seven aspects: emotional development; intellectual development; physical development; perceptive development; social development; esthetic development; and creative development. Bloom also said that 50% of intelligencc in development before the age of four, 75% by the age of eight and full development will be achieved by seventeen years of age. It is very important that children should be in a relaxing, free environment to be self motivated to express their egos and to challenge the unknown, imaginative world. They also should be encouraged to explore unlimited mediums for free expression of their feelings, thoughts, emotions and hopes. Every material has its own set of characteristics and its close relationship with creative artistic activities has a big impact on chiidren, Children’s activities like creating, distroying, tearing and pasting are not a mathematical formula. Children’s creativity changes forms of the art works. Modern societies have become more and more complex and divided. And thesedays more artificial materials are used in children’s education, which make children become more alienated from nature. Nature broadens our concept of objects and frees us from rigid conformity and refreshes our spirits. The most important aspect of early childhood art education is to enhance the ability for artistic understanding through a wide variety of artistic experiences. Compared to the conventional artificial materials used for children’s art works, clay helps children to develop a sense of nature, creativity and self motivation. Clay is an important material for developing better teaching methods for teaching dimensional art to children.
