The purpose of this paper is to present Art History and the Museum in the School as a model for museum-school partnerships. Originally designed as a workshop to introduce K-12 teachers in Central Pennsylvania to the pairner Museum of Art at The Pennsylvania State University, it serves as a general gulde for using art museum exhibitions to enrich teaching across the curriculum with art historical context. The model begins with a discussion of collections, preservation, exhibitions and education as a general introduction to the purposes of art museums. The education eurator and docent guider are identified as the key museum resources for planning a eurrioulum to include museum experiences. Ideas for activities prior to visiting a museum, while in a museum, and after returning from a museum provide reachers with a sequential plan that affectively integrates museum visits in their curricula, And, finally, works of art from the Palmer Museum if Art are used as examples to illustrate discipline-based and interdisciplinary approaches to museum exhibitions.
