The purpose of this study is to comprehend the cause of the variety of socialization on the case
of the students of Bright Moon University of Education in Korea. On the basis of the study, I
expected to understand the concept of socialization. For this study I in-dept-interviewed 11 graduates
who had studied in Bright Moon University of Education in Korea from year 2001 to 2007. I
analyzed the data by the method of content analysis. I found out the followings.
Bright Moon University of Education is established to educate the elementary school teacher of
Korea. Being in the university, the students inquired what is good teacher, and they established
different types of good teacher. Mr. Joe, Pestalozzi, Freire, and Socrates are them. It is not only
because of the curriculum of Bright Moon University of Education, but also the students' motive for
entrance into the university, their expectation to the university, and their reception to the curriculum.
Difference of these factors cause them establish different types of good teacher.
This fact means that the students of Bright Moon University of Education socialize himself/herself
as an elementary school teacher. On the basis of this fact the socialization is not singular passive
process, but multiple active process. And socialization is not only reproduction process, but
construction process too. This is consistent with the postmodern concept of socialization.
