본 연구의 주요 목적은 첫째, 학교 내에서의 또래집단괴롭힘 피해 유형을 파악하고, 둘째, 그에 대한 아동의 대처전략 유형들을 조사하며, 셋째, 이들 각각의 유형들과 아동이 느끼는 외로움과의 관계를 살펴보는 데 있다. 본 연구는 초등학교 5·6학년생 231명을 대상으로 하여 또래집단괴롭힘 피해 경험 척도, 대처전략 유형 척도 및 외로움 척도를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 또래집단괴롭힘에는 세 가지 피해 유형(신체적, 언어적, 관계적)이 있으며, 아동이 사용하는 대처전략 유형은 일곱가지(인지적 거리두기, 성인 지지찾기, 또래 지지찾기, 부정적 문제해결, 긍정적 문제해결, 내면화, 표출화)인 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 본 연구에서는 또래집단괴롭힘 피해 유형과 대처전략 유형이 아동이 느끼는 외로움에 미치는 영향을 조사하였는데, 또래집단괴롭힘의 관계적 피해를 경험한 아동이 외로움을 가장 많이 느끼는 것으로 드러났다. 또한, 성인 및 또래 지지찾기 전략을 쓰지 않을수록, 내면화 전략을 많이 사용할수록 외로움을 많이 느끼는 것으로 나타났다.
The goal of the present study was to identify peer victimization categories and coping strategies and examine the relationship to loneliness among elementary school children. The participants were 231 children(121 boys and 110 girls; mean age=11.6years) from an urban elementary school. Self-report data on peer victimization experiences, coping strategies, and loneliness were obtained. Results indicated that three categories of victimization experiences were found(physical, verbal, relational). Also, seven types of coping strategies in peer victimization were identified(cognitive distancing, adult support seeking, peer support seeking, negative problem solving, positive problem solving, internalizing, externalizing). The relationship of the victimization categories and coping strategies to loneliness was examined. Relational aggression was found to be strongly associated with loneliness. Lack of social support seeking and internalizing strategies were associated with loneliness. The relations between peer victimization experiences and coping strategies were also explored.
