최근에 여러 출판사에서 북한동화를 모음집으로 엮은 책들이 출판되고 있으며, 통일이나 북한을 다루는 아동도서들이 범람해 있는 상태이다. 그러나 북한과 통일의 문제를 다루는 도서에 대한 객관적인 평가도 없이 아동들에게 소개하는 것은 정서적인 면에서 다소 우려된다. 북한 동화의 내용 중에 민주주의와는 다른 사상이나 이념이 내재되어 있거나, 아동도서들이 무분별하게 북한의 문화를 소개한다면 오히려 초등학생들이 왜곡된 시각을 가질 수도 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 초등학교 통일교육에 활용될 수 있는 동화를 분류하여 교육현장에 적용시키고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 통일관련 주제의 도서 3권과 북한의 문화를 잘 반영하고 있는 북한동화 4권이 선별되었다. 선별된 동화는『북한 동화 모음집』,『북한 어린이들은 어떤 놀이를 할까』,『친구 없이는 못살아』,『다 타고난 재주가 있지요』,『작다고 깔보다 큰 코 다쳐요』,『북한에서 온 내 친구』,『반갑습네다』이다. 이들 동화를 중심으로 내용분석이 이루어졌다. 북한동화는 북한의 언어를 그대로 사용하고 있기 때문에 남한의 어린이들도 북한의 언어를 자연스럽게 익힐 수가 있는 장점이 있으며, 동물이 주인공으로 등장하는 동화도 많기 때문에 남한의 어린이들도 별다른 이질감 없이 내용을 이해할 수가 있다. 그러나 일부분에서는 문화적 차이를 반영하는 내용도 있었다.
The purpose of this study was to explore method for training children\'s education of unifications. So fairy tales had advantages of useful materials for instructing educations of Unifications. Because of readers enhanced personal insight and seek to trigger an emotional catharsis in their work. Recently many books published that themes of unification and introducing culture of North Korea. But we had to evaluate these books for children\'s emotion. There were collected eight books for elementary students. There were 4 tales that North Korean children\'s read books, and 3 books were derived the South. Based on these story books, accomplished analysis of contents. Material of books gathered by researches of internet and references. This study examined story books. Analysis of data from the collected books indicated similarity between South and North Korea. For example both The North and The South children liked a animal character. But some of tales resulted from The North were different our culture. Tales would applied effectively for elementary students\' education of unification.
