The study’s objective is to find out the art activities applied ‘Thumb
message’ communication skill’s effect on nursery teachers’ gratitude tendency
and self-esteem. The object group consisted of 24 volunteered participants
from a kindergarten located in W city in Gangwon-do, The volunteers were
randomly divided into the experiment group and the control group, 12
participants each. The art activities lasted from March 3rd to April 30th 2013.
Each session lasted 180 minutes, and a total of eight sessions were
conducted. Researching tools were gratitude tendency and self-esteem inspection.
To compare the two groups, homogeneity test was conducted by running
independent t-test. The study was analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA to
validate the effectiveness of the program. Based on the research, we
concluded that art activities applied ‘Thumb message’ communication skill
program has a positive effect on nursing teachers’ gratitude tendency and
self-esteem, proven by the study results.
