The purpose of this study is to inquire the practical possibility of qualitative research method
to realize the equality of education. For this purpose, I reinterpreted the Korean innovative
school in the view of equality in education. And I studied the difficulties on the running of
innovative schools. Subsequently, I looked for the possibility of qualitative research method to
overcome the difficulties.
Nowadays several Korean education offices in-local have tried to innovate school. It is the
innovation of lesson that the effort focuses on. Most of Korean school teachers have transmitted
students the contents written on textbook according to the national curriculum. They consider it
as the right answer. But some of innovative school teachers would like to reconstruct national
curriculum, and support students to create their own knowledge. To succeed this innovation,
teachers have to observe students meticulously, and comprehend the unique character of each
student, and then design a proper curriculum and lesson method for them. However the teachers
do not have those competencies.
Qualitative research method can be the way to solve this problem. Qualitative researcher
always tried to look at things and understand the meaning of things from the viewpoint of
object eliminating researcher's prejudice. If teachers acquire this method, they can comprehend
the unique character of each student, and design a proper curriculum and lesson method for
them. In this respect, qualitative research method can be an actual way to provide students the
chance of significant education.
